Michelle Margolis is the Norman E. Alexander Librarian for Jewish Studies at Columbia University. She also serves as the Vice President/President-Elect of the Association of Jewish Libraries and co-directs a digital project called Footprints: Jewish Books Through Time and Place. Michelle works on the history of Jewish books and libraries, as well as the intersection of Jewish Studies and digital scholarship.

She spent many years teaching and learning in various Seminaries in Eretz Yisrael before moving to London. After 7 years as a senior Educator for Aish UK and a teacher at Hasmonean Girls High School in London, Shalvie and her family have returned to Eretz Yisrael. Shalvie is a yoetzet halacha and currently teaching at Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY).

Thursday February 2 at 12pm More about this speakerx Mrs. Michal HorowitzMrs. Michal Horowitz is a Torah teacher whose shiurim reach audiences worldwide. She teaches weekly in her Five Towns, NY, community and lectures nationally and internationally. A longtime presenter for the OU Women’s Initiative, she inaugurated the Torat Imecha Nach Yomi program. In September 2023, she was invited by Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis to serve as the first female scholar to keynote the Annual Pre-Yamim Noraim Conference for the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth. She is the author of Abled: Living With a Disability, a Torah View (Mosaica Press, 2025) and lives in Woodmere, NY, with her family.
